CLASS DESCRIPTIONIn a fun and easy going atmosphere, Edgardo will introduce you to the Conga drum, how to play correctly and effortlessly all 7 “official” sounds on the Conga. Every class will consist on a routine of proper technique review and warming up exercises, followed by learning the basic patterns of Afro Cuban Rhythms like Rumba Guaguancó, Columbia and Yambú, 6/8 metric rhythms like Bembé and Guiro, Puerto Rican Bomba, the basic patterns for Son, Mambo and Guaracha and more.
Other instruments like Claves, Guiro, Maracas, Chekeré, etc. will also be taught, and available to be played as needed.
With the intermediate and advance students, after making an assessment of your level, Edgardo will set a plan of action designed to achieve your goals.
At times, a singing chant or a song may be also taught, if the student is interested.
