$100 for all 4 classes paid in advance or at the first class .

REQUIREMENTS:

13 years and over, please.
Beginner students to bring 1 conga drum (intermediate and advanced two) ideally, Edgardo has some extras available on a first come first serve basis.
Note: Intermediate students must know how to play: Basic two drum "Tumbao" patterns, some basic notions of Rumba and such. Please call and reserve a spot.

DESCRIPTION:

In a fun and easy going atmosphere, Edgardo will introduce to the beginners the
Conga drum, how to play correctly and effortlessly all 7 “official” sounds on the Conga. Every class will consist on a routine of proper technique review and warming up exercises, followed by learning the basic patterns of Afro Cuban Rhythms like Rumba Guaguancó, Columbia and Yambú, 6/8 metric rhythms like Bembé and Guiro, Puerto Rican Bomba, the basic patterns for Son, Mambo and Guaracha and more.
The first hour of the class will be always geared towards the beginner student,
then the second hour will move at a faster pace to attend the needs of the intermediate level students. Everyone is welcome to stay for both hours and participate. Other instruments like Claves, Guiro, Maracas, Chekeré, etc. will also be taught, and available to be played as needed.
At times, a singing chant or a song may be also taught, as the group becomes capable of doing so.
Edgardo plans to arrange for a students performance at a future date and time to be confirmed.


ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Edgardo Cambón is a Percussionist, Vocalist, Educator and Band Leader with over 33 years of professional experience. A much in demand musician in the U.S.A, he has performed or recorded with artist like Jesús “Chucho” Valdés, Eddie Palmieri, Santana, Jerry Rivera, Eddie Santiago, Keith Terry, Omar Sosa, Andy Narell, Rebeca Mauleón, Giovanni Hidalgo, Eddie Montalvo and Johny Rodriguez among many others. He is an LP (Latin Percussion) instruments endorser, and has traveled world wide as an LP clinician.
Since 1987 he leads on Congas and lead Vocals the acclaimed Salsa Band “Candela, ” with three recordings available of mainly his own compositions. Edgardo’s style of teaching is fun, easy going, and very effective, utilizing the skills learned not just in the music field but also as a graduated of the National Institute of Physical Education (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1978 to 81.) Edgardo teaches students how to play correctly, while focusing on been “musical,” and having fun!
